Development of a Custom Wooden Crate to Store & Ship Fabric Rolls

At Integrated Packaging Systems, we work closely with our customers to design and crate packaging solutions for their exact needs. Very often, it takes more than just a cardboard box to safely transport today’s high value goods and products. Our packaging systems are able to cost-effectively store and ship any specific commercial or industrial product.
We were recently contracted by a fabric manufacturing customer to develop crates for holding large, heavy rolls of fabric. We began our design work by selecting 1″ (Plywood) as our base material, which would provide the necessary strength and rigidity. Core supports, core support boards, a bottom foundational skid, and a lid were added as the design matured. The final result was a 73″ long, 42″ wide, 40″ high crate capable of holding several of the 8″ dia., 70″ long rolls, with a total weight capacity of 650 lbs. After final design testing, manufacturing was performed and the final product was delivered to the customer.
